On 3 May, Peter J. Croll officially took leave as Director of BICC (Bonn International Center for Conversion) at the Museum Koenig in Bonn. 150 invited guests from politics, science, business and civil society as well as numerous colleagues came to honor the work of Peter J. Croll and BICC.

- International Conference on "Identity, Economy, Power Relations and External Interests: Old and New Challenges for Sudan and South Sudan"
9th International Sudan Studies Conference of the Sudan Studies Association (SSA USA) and the Sudan Studies Society (SSS UK). The conference aims to bring together international scholars working on Sudan and South Sudan at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn from 23 to 25 July 2012.
